Firsts

We have been having a lot of "first" events in our lives lately-as most people do around the beginning of a school year. It is an exciting time-the end of the crazy summer and back to a schedule-which is always a hard thing for me to get used to-I love my freedom to do what we want to do whenever we want to do it! I have a feeling I am going to struggle when Max is in school and we have something every single day!

This year Max is going to a preschool where I can just drop him off-it has been wonderful! I asked him if he missed me his first day of school and he was like, NO. Kind of made me sad, but I'm glad to know that he is confident a comfortable on his own. It is at the home of a woman in one of the wards in my stake-she has horses and animals and they go out and do stuff with the animals frequently which is Max's favorite part. He always tells me they talked about cowboys and then he makes sure that cowboys are still real.

Another one of Max's favorite things about preschool is the big box of dress ups they have there. I'm sure he spends half of his school day asking to be called Batman or Ironman instead of Max-he is completely dedicated to who he is becomming.

Our first day at Disneyland after the long hot summer-and being blacked out on our passes. It was a HOT day! I took Max on Splash Mtn with me for the first time-and lets just say he wasn't a huge fan. He told me that he wouldn't be scared of it anymore when he was twenty-eight. In order to recover from the horror of the ride he needed a snack break.

While snacking Layla couldn't keep her eyes off of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger who were right there. She kept saying, "hug Pooh" so we did something I try to avoid everytime we are there and we waited in line to see a character.

Max waiting-he has become quite the goof ball when it comes to taking pictures.

I'm pretty sure he got this pose from his father.

When it was finally our turn Layla ran right up to Pooh and gave him a big hug. It was pretty dang cute-it is the first time she hasn't chickened out when she gets close to a character.

(Side note-it was sooo hot that day and I forgot a little rubber band to pull Layla's hair back so she had some nappy hair all day long. Her bangs kept sticking to her sweaty head and then curling-not one of her best hair days!)

The person in the Tigger costume had just gotten there and he was literally bouncing off the walls. Layla was a little nervous around him but Max of course loved him.

Even with Mommy there she was nervous around him!

We finally decided to go and cool off at the splash pads over in the Bugs Life area. Max didn't waste any time getting soaking wet. I have to admit that I was a little jealous of them! Cody and I both took turns holding Max after we left so we could take advantage of the cooling power of his wet body.

Every once in a while Layla gets the urge to flash the crowd. It is a hard thing to resist.

Finally last Saturday Max had his first soccer game. He loved it. If it hadn't been 100+ degrees outside I would have loved it a little bit more!

How Layla spent most of the game-she finally came and sat by me in the shade-with her pink and sweaty little head....kids can be stinky little things!

Max loves soccer-he has a hard time not tackling people in order to get the ball but he is getting better. He just may be more of a football player than a soccer boy!

I must say that I love the coach....mostly because it is my hubby. Coaching soccer is definitely a first for him-and Max's game may have even been the first soccer game he has ever witnessed...just kidding-but lets just say it is a good thing it is only 4 yr old soccer. However, even though he has a lack of experience in soccer Cody does an excellent job coaching-he seems to be able to do just about anything he wants to, and do it well-which is a great talent, but kind of annoying for those of us normal people.

The other day I decided I needed a hobby. I have been potty training Layla and so have been stuck in the house and I am getting a little stir crazy. In order to combat the craziness I made a bunch of hair accessories for Layla-and she being the  accessorizing guru that she is decided that she needed at least four in her hair at a time. I don't argue-the girl knows what she wants.
