Proposition 8

One of the exciting things we have experienced since moving to California is the acceptance of gay marriage, and then the responding Proposition 8 that would once again define marriage between a man and woman in the state of California. When the first one passed, being the uninformed people we are Cody and I thought that it wouldn't affect us really in any way. We were definitely wrong. The church has issued many letters, statements that are shared at church where we are asked to volunteer time, means, etc to help spread the word about Proposition 8....which can be hard and sometimes inconvenient, but lets be honest it isn't like we are being asked to leave our homes and walk across the country.
Anyway tonight Cody went to another big meeting about it where Elder Cook, and Elder Ballard spoke and once again explained in depth the underlying results of this legislation. It is very convincing and very inspiring to do all we can to support it and help Prop 8 to pass.....so in the fireside they said to blog about it post it on facebook etc, so this is my effort. I know most of you do not live in California but I figure you all may know someone who does. All they are asking is we spread the word and information to our friends and neighbors-if you know anyone please do so also.
This is the website that has a lot of information to share.

My sister also lives in California and she says it's like living in a different country. Everybody's views are different there; especially with accepting gay marriage. Glad you posted about it on your blog!

Hi Laura...I found your blog on Tiffany's. I haven't seen you forever. I started my own blog and thought I would add you on as a friend, so I can keep in touch.

I was just in San Diego last week and on the radio they had tons of advertisements about Prop. 8. It sure interesting. Glad I found your blog, hope to keep in touch.

Laura, first off congratulations on your move. More importantly, what a wonderful experience you are having. Here we are in DC where "legislation" happens and it seems you are getting a more 'hands on' experience. Good luck with your efforts!
