We spent the Fourth of July in Utah this year-which was great-we couldn't pass up going up there due to a family reunion of sorts on my mom''s side, that was really centered around the wedding of my Uncle David.
In order to get up to Utah without going crazy while driving with a little boy who hates to be contained for ten hours, Cody and I decided to leave on July 2 and drive through the night-so Max would sleep most of the drive. Thankfully he slept from Las Vegas on. We stopped in Provo and stayed at my sister's house, rather than drive an hour longer to my parents-since it was already 4 AM.
Anyway driving through the night was definitely worth it, we spend the evening of July 3 at Mueller Park in Bountiful, which is beautiful, eating Dutch Oven and mingling with family we haven't seen in years. On the Fourth we woke up and went to a parade in Kayesville-it was fun but way too hot-it really made me miss the parade in Oakley, where temperatures maybe reach 75 degrees instead of the 90's. After the parade we met at a park with our family as well as the family of Blythe, my Uncle's fiance-now wife. It was fun to get to know her family and then once again spend time with our family. We ended the day by going to fireworks in Kayesville, which were exciting but not as patriotic feeling as they are when they follow a rodeo! All in all it was a great July 4th, which left us all very proud of and grateful for our country.
Max loves all the toys at Rachel's house-especially this car.
In true three year old fashion, Tanner decided he needed to play with his car at the same time as Max, it is a good thing that Max loves Tanner so much, so he was very happy to share the car with his little buddy.
Sticking with tradition, after everyone had eaten lunch, a big water fight broke out-this is a picture of people attempting to stay dry....but nobody was safe, they even got grandma with a bucket full of water.
Max was facinated with the smoke coming from the dry ice in the rootbeer-he probably would have been happy playing in the smoke all day if I would have let him!
Some of the many male cousins on my mom's side....girls are out numbered by far on both sides of my family!
Not long after the water fight started sitting by the picnic tables was no longer safe-as you can tell by the puddles-which Max quickly discovered were fun to play in.
Cody stayed dry for about half of the water fight, but my brothers were sure to make sure he didn't miss out in a bucket full of water.
Waiting for the fireworks to start-my cousin Allison was a genius and bought little glowsticks for the kiddos to play with.
Max winding up to throw the taffy-in his mind everything somewhat round is a good thing to throw.
I thought this picture was funny-it always amazes me how alike my mom and her sisters are-even though they don't see each other that often they still manage to sit exactly the same way-making sure they point their toes while crossing their legs.

Max is getting so big! He looks so cute. How are you guys liking Cali? (We hope not too much, so you'll move back to GJ:)
I love the one of Max playing in the rootbeer smoke. So cute. It sounds like he is just as active as Tanner. We have to let them get together and wear each other out when you guys get back.
